Review of It's a Wonderful Afterlife (2010) by Matthew L — 27 Aug 2010
An enjoyable but muddled film that is sold short by the synopsis above. There is a lot more going on in this film than serial murder amongst them, questions of class, family duty, the soul and a few random film references for good measure.
There is just so much going on in this film that it all feels a little overwhelming and the tone lurches from comic farce, to romcom via American Werewolf talks with the dead. Its an enjoyable film but I can't help but feel that another re-write or two may have helped tidy up the flabby edges.
