Review of Irreversible (2002) by Leandro B — 12 Jan 2010
OK, so I'm very late to come to appreciate this film, but it was well worth the wait. While much of the film's controversy centres on the extremity of the violence, what gets missed from many assessments of the film is just how beautifully it is shot, the subtlety and maturity of the character development, and how its 'tale-told-in-reverse' structure demands the audience reflect on what it has already previously witnessed.
A remarkable film and highly recommended. AND it stars Cassel and Bellucci - possibly two of my favourite French actors!
