Review of In Darkness (2011) by David F — 21 Oct 2012
Depressing though moving film about a group of Jews forced to hide in the sewers after the Nazis liquidate the population of the Lvov ghetto. The subject matter is disturbing and the film is unflinching in its depiction of the filthy and inhuman conditions the group must endure to avoid being shot or sent to concentration camps and it is not a short film but the story of their survival and the aid they receive from a non-Jewish sewer-worker makes for a fascinating, near-documentary-like film about the highs and lows of the human condition.
