Review of Images (1972) by Adam P — 14 Mar 2008
I felt that altman's images was a tough picture to admire. Im not sure if I empathize with the Susannah York character but what I find interesting is her sexual guilt and when she embraces her husband is later shocked to find out that she is embracing a man she had an affair with who happens to be a ghost.
a disturbing montage sequence of York's character falling in lust with the men in her life, even the male ghost who pops in and out of some scenes. I notice a cool freeze frame shot on Rene Auberjonois laying dead by the waterfall(he actually looks really dead in that shot) the camera work is the best and it is definetly a visual film but I don't know if the cast was right on this one or altman.
The music by john williams was a bit distracting and the voiceover by Susannah York thought it wasn't needed.
