Review of I Shot Andy Warhol (1996) by Miracle H — 04 Apr 2008
Another wonderful period piece about all those beautiful people in New York's underground art scene. This film, I felt, had the right indie sensibility about it, compared to "Factory Girl" with Sienna Miller as Edie Sedgwick, which wasn't too bad itself though.
There's enough inspiration to go around. Lili Taylor ("Six Feet Under", among others) was absolutely wonderful as the deranged yet fascinating Valerie Solanas. Jared Harris gave another great performance as Warhol (played by Guy Pearce in Factory Girl, to whom I'm slightly partial).
Stephen Dorff teetered on the edge of too campy (if there is such a thing), but in the end delivered. Beautiful, too. Mary Harron seems like one to watch as a director.
