Not as visceral as Blue Ruin nor as intense as Green Room, actor Macon Blair's directorial debut is nevertheless in the same vain as Saulnier's films as a lean piece of genre filmmaking. With a simple plot and relatable conflict, Blair uses action to evoke the character's frustrations with the world - "Falling Down" for the Trump age.
