Review of Honeydripper (2007) by Jon T — 31 Dec 2007
First must acknowledge that I am a dyed-in-the-wool Sayles fan. I enjoyed Honeydripper very much -- it was a portrait of a time and place -- rural Alabama, 1950. The internal and external struggles of the characters were compelling, and the music -- especially Keb Mo -- felt authentic and added to the ambience.
Got a kick out of seeing Yaya DaCosta of America's Next Top Model -- she did a great job. Overall, evocative, something to chew on, entertaining.
