Review of Haider (2014) by Rupankar K — 05 Oct 2014
A gripping re-telling of the Shakespearian epic "Hamlet", the story remains almost true to the original plot line with Shahid Kapoor delivering probably his best performance in my opinion. With the exception of Shraddha Kapoor, all other cast members gave good performances.
The movie is well-directed, even though it seemed to have stretched at certain points which led to its 162 mins run-time. The cinematography was quite good , with the climatic dance sequence being shot with near perfection providing the well-deserved intensity it needed, due to the significance it held even in the play Hamlet performs to get the truth out of his uncle.
