Review of Gun-shy (2003) by Buster B — 03 Jan 2007
Possibly the most underrated film of all time, Gun Shy marks a brilliant, if under-supported entry into the world of feature filmmaking for Writer-Director Eric Blakeney who crafts a fine script that all actors involved, save producer/star Sandra Bullock do a great job of representing on-screen.
At once cute and evil, Gun Shy has loads of jokes that range from the thoughtful to gross, but they're offset by moments of tenderness that make the film that much more worthwhile - not just a comedy, or a romance, or a drama, but a real piece of understanding of our conditions in the world.
Blakeney demonstrates a real understanding of the masks we wear and how they affect us on a daily basis, using a brilliant metaphor of an undercover cop to illustrate just how full of shit we are, and how we suffer for it.
Final Verdict: Fresh. :fresh:
