Review of Gulaal (2009) by Mandeep S — 12 Sep 2009
Trust Anurag Kashyap to come up with a quirky fare. Had missed out on this one, so caught it up wen it showed on TV. This one's not for the faint hearted though. Based on student politics and set up in Rajasthan on the backdrop of Rajputana movement, this is an engaging, dark, brooding, overtly violent portrayal of dark, anguished characters.
Kay Kay dominates the proceedings mesmerisingly, same with the supporting cast. Special mention for the engaging lyrics by Piyush Mishra. Watch it if you tired of the regular fares that Bollywood ussually dishes out.
