Review of Greystone Park (2012) by Jeremy B — 15 Sep 2012
Movies like this work best if the unseen forces remain unseen. Our minds can fill in things far better than any F/X. The movie does this well up to a point and while not overly scary up to the point, it has suspense and has you filling in the blanks. When they start to show some of the things haunting the place it loses the scare factor and changes the atmosphere of the movie.
I think the premise itself is a bit too close to Grave Encounters but still distinguishes enough not to be a copy. Everyone is cashing in on the Blair Witch style horror/thrillers much like the slasher films of the 80's cashed in on Halloween's success. A lot of good was spawned from it and some not so good. I think the production on this a lot better than most of the movies mace in this style. While it is not the best of it's genre it certainly is not the worst and if you enjoy this method of filming then you will want to see this movie.
