Review of Greetings from Tim Buckley (2013) by Zack B — 23 Jul 2013
There are several scenes of superfluous emotional displays, like the horrid scene of Jeff crying in the hotel room. Badgley's performance in that scene suffers not because of his own instincts but because director Dan Algrant didn't seem to know what he was doing with that scene.
It didn't gel. And the crying just wasn't convincing. Other than that, the music is incredible, Penn Badgley shocked with his enormously talented vocals skills and for his seemingly passionate take on Jeff's adolescent sarcasm, his infinite knowledge of music and how these both mixed and transformed into his performing genius.
