Review of Gorgo (1961) by Private U — 26 Apr 2008
I really love Godzilla. I also like Yongary and have a special place in my heart for Gamera. The distant relations of these guys are the Gorgo Family, believed to have last been seen enjoying the sounds of London being torn apart.
So it isn't the only godzilla rip-off in the world, but it is one of the best of them. If you saw Godzilla: final wars and wondered why the UK managed to avoid utter destruction, you can always see a giant reptillian hand going through Big Ben and Parliament here.
I think the message of this film is that a giant-reptillian mother does not appreciate humans luring their children into showbusiness. The monster acting isn't as good as the godzillas acors, but far better than the Korean actor who played Yongary.
A good little piece of cinema.
