Along with "city of sadness" are two best works of hou. as most of his film, this one is also complex and challenging, but never inaccessible. annie(yi neng jing)'s profromence in the film just as good as faye wang in chungking express, but more diffcult by acts two different roles.
just be patient, u will soon find out it is a masterpeice.
