Review of Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992) by Gus S — 20 May 2008
There is a lot of nostalgia here for fans of the old G-films as this one has the same music, old monsters, and the classic style of that bygone era. However, there is really not much of a plot. This movie is essentially a remake of 1964's Godzilla vs.
the Thing with an anti-Mothra thrown in along with a blatant environmental message. Beyond those additions there is not much here that improves on the original version (although Battra is very cool). The miniature sets are some of the best of the series and there are plenty of great destruction scenes.
Since those are the things most Godzilla fans are looking for, this film is just fine.
