Review of Goat (2016) by Tim M — 08 Nov 2018
'Goat' is a 2016 American drama film based on a true story. The film is adapted from the book, "Goat: A memoir". It's edgy and daring and fascinating, and hard to watch, but it fell short.
I didn't buy Ben Schnetzer as a college student, but he is fantastic. You can't complain about the acting, but the tonal shifts in the movie don't work. The picture is bookended by another movie.
The hazing should be the focal point, but instead the film veers off course, before it ever began. Once it finds its way it's really good, but in the end once again it steers off the rails again.
Watch for the acting and not much else. Final Score: 5.9/10.
