Review of Ghost in the Shell (1995) by Maverick — 27 Sep 2008
For an animation crafted ten years ago it still literally takes a shit on pretty much any other cartoon I have ever seen, with the exception of Vampire Hunter D of course. Each frame of animation is articulately and painstakingly detailed.
The story takes place in the near future centering around a police force of artificially assimilated humans questioning the authenticity of their humanity. Masume Shirow Cleverly balances action, romance, suspence, mystery, and drama spawning an instant cult classic deserving better treatment from it's so called fans.
The vocal casts in both english and japanese are equally talented. The only fault I can concieve of in the film is the over abundance of american bashing. Yet still A great film Comparible with the top live action flicks.
If you do not like this film you either have the attention span of a five year old and as such you should not be wasting you time with this film.
