Review of Garden State (2004) by Pierre K — 23 Mar 2011
I haven't watched Garden State in like a year, so I picked a movie to fall asleep to last night, and this was it. Needless to say, I didn't fall asleep for two hours and watched with dog-like alertness.
I forgot how beautifully awesome and how identifiable this film can be to someone. Zach Braff was already comedy gold, but after this he is renowned for his dramatic writing and effectiveness towards drama in acting.
Natale Portman is at her finest, as well as is the supporting cast. It puts you in the shoes of making the trip back home, and asks you whether or not you enjoy being there, or would rather have something much more.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time.
