Review of Fantasia 2000 (2000) by Davey M — 16 Dec 2008
One of the greatest celebrations of music, art, storytelling and animation ever. You can complain all you want that some of these segments are better than others, but "Fantasia 2000" is more consistently amazing film than its predecessor, and I'd go so far as it say it's one of the greatest movies ever made; "Pines of Rome," "Pomp and Circumstance," and the "Firebird Suite" are particularly mind-blowingly amazing; "The Steadfast Tin Soldier" set to a Shostakovich piano concerto is great, Beethoven's Fifth is powerful, "Rhapsody in Blue" lovely, and the "Carnival of Animals" finale is a fun lightweight bit reminiscent of the silly symphonies.
What an amazing movie.
