Review of Exam (2009) by James L — 06 Mar 2010
Stuart Hazeldineâ??s film is one of those films â?? like Cube, like Fermatâ??s Room â?? that boasts one simple idea at its core. Eight people competing for an exclusive job, locked together in one room for 80 minutes.
Thereâ??s one answer to their examâ?¦ but whatâ??s the question? A fine example of low budget filmmaking, Exam ably demonstrates what can be achieved with a great screenplay. The puzzle-solving-in-a-room scenario might not be wholly original nowadays but it works, and it certainly works well here.
