Review of Everly (2015) by Michael Q — 29 Jan 2015
Die Hard, but with a Woman. And lots n lots of gore. A fun, trashy, B-movie that doesn't take itself too seriously and is elevated a little by Salma Hayek's charisma and mere presence. Damn, the woman still looks fine, and can really wield a weapon.
She simply proves that an A-list star can lift a C-list movie and turn it into a wild, over the top, entertaining romp. Beware, for there is a very disturbing and graphic sequence midway through the movie, that was a bit too much for my liking.
But still, it's not a bad movie, and the filmmakers find creative ways to work within the confines of its setting.
