Review of Eternally Yours (1939) by Katie R — 16 May 2009
This was one of my very favorite movies when I was a kid. Let's just say... I kind of wish I hadn't watched it again. It's not a bad movie at all. It's just not great, and rewatching it at 23 really ruined the magic I felt watching it at 12.
The earlier scenes are good, when Niven and Young are married and doing their magic act together. But once they split and it becomes a remarriage comedy, it majorly falters, especially when held up against brilliant remarriage comedies like Hitchcock's Mr.
and Mrs. Smith and Sturges' The Lady Eve.
