Review of Earth vs. the Flying Saucers (1956) by Adrian Z — 12 Jan 2011
3 - The iconic image of a flying saucer crashing into the Capitol building belongs to this one. Very straight faced alien invasion movie, is competent, but still can't shake the silliness of its antiquated sci-fi cliches - at least with a modern audience.
Ray Harryhausen's effects seem inconsistent, and the plot moves slowly, as does the often pedantic dialogue. Perhaps we've seen enough sci-fis not to need to have every tiny scientific concept explained in lengthy monotone.
