Review of Downloaded (2013) by Ian G — 18 Jul 2013
Plays out as a point by point deconstruction of the rise and fall of Napster and tying it in to the rise of the internet and importance of creating a viable model for the sharing of free information in that model.
Hits all the right marks but would have been interesting to look outside the window a little bit at some of the other ventures over that same arc (mention of the two major successes since then with the IPOD sharing system and Facebook) but barely any mention of the newcomer Spootify, or competition from Myspace or Friendster around that same time.
Could have used a tad more urgency, seemed more like retracing steps to stay relative.
