Review of Distance (2016) by Ming Siu G — 06 Jun 2016
The first segment says quite a lot by saying very little. The second seems to be saying a lot, but ends up saying less than it seemed. And the third says a lot, even telling us its themes flat-out through lecture scenes (like a student film), but ultimately says very little.
Front-loading an omnibus film may not be the smartest thing to do, given how ultimately, audiences walk away with the ending firmly in mind, and this has a really lacklustre one. And dammit, in this day and age, three stories in one movie and not one strong female character in any of them?
