Splendid acting from Malkovich simply adds to the film's emotional tension. This film is a perfect example that a great novel can serve as a basis for an interesting story pictured in an unconventional way where not everything appears as it really is.
Although the film is not easy to digest, it will leave you deeply emerged in thought.
