Review of Directed by John Ford (1971) by Brendon M — 15 Jan 2013
I like John Ford but have only seen a couple of his movies. Personally in terms of westerns I liked Leone more but John Ford is the epitome of American westerns and classic American movies of the 30's-50's.
I bought this for a dollar on DVD at the library and it was fulfilling. It is cool to hear various figures talk about working with Ford and his process. The version I saw was reconstructed by Bogdanovich so it featured the interviews with Stewart, Fonda, and the Duke as well as ones filmed in 2006 with Martin Scorsese, Clint Eastwood and Spielberg.
