Review of Diggers (2007) by Ben F — 11 Jun 2007
This is a cracking little film about the lives of six tightly knit friends which is touching without ever being overly sentimental. The various character's stories are set against a seventies backdrop where hard times abound for small-time clam-diggers (the occupation of the four guys in the group) as big-business threatens their livelihoods and, in turn, their relationships.
Great acting combine nicely with characters you can't help but like and a tight script. Contrary to the presence of an over-shadowing company, the film doesn't set out with a message against big-business.
It simply tells a story of a group of people trying to keep up with an ever-changing world and it does so with aplomb. An excellent film for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
