Review of Days of Glory (2006) by William R — 22 Sep 2007
These days, it is an exceedingly rare film that takes a detailed look at the Free French military in WWII, let alone a film that shows the role played by the Arab-speaking African nationals under French colonial rule.
Days Of Glory brings this most obscure of topics to life in a time when every WWII film strives for the gritty realism of Saving Private Ryan. This film succeeds in that as well as effectively telling the story it sets out to tell.
Sadly, the average person who isn't a WWII enthusiast and dislikes reading subtitles will probably never give this movie a chance; it's their loss.
