Review of Damini (1993) by Sophia Q — 02 Aug 2011
The first time I watched this movie, I was 9 years old and thought the only redeeming factor of this movie was "Bin Saajan Jhula Jhooloon." Almost 10 years later, I watched this movie again: WOW.
There are SO MANY "redeeming factors" for this movie, Meenakshi and Sunny Deol's performances being the highlights. The storyline is hard-hitting and is probably something that is still relevant today.
Money + Power = Getting Away With Murder. Of course, there are many OTT moments, which are synonymous with 90s Bollywood, but that's expected and doesn't take away from the overall effect. Rajkumar Santoshi has always been one of my favorite directors and this is just another addition to the list of his accolades.
Great!
