Two of the greatest male performances of 2013 are delivered in one of the most important true stories. McConaughey is perfect in displaying Woodruff's transformation from beginning to end and Letto is remarkably unrecognizable and completely becomes his role.
The film itself is arguably the most powerful of the year.
