Review of Cure (1997) by Casey B — 17 Feb 2008
My first Kiyoshi Kurosawa movie, Cure is an extremely heady psychological horror film surrounding ideas of personal identity and what one will or will not do when their beliefs are challenged. That's a VERY weak summation, but I do strongly recommend giving it a watch.
Still, the sheer weight of its concepts - concepts which are interpreted rather than explained, mind you - might prove unpalatable to some. This film will cause you to think (a LOT), and deserves multiple viewings before a thorough analysis can be performed.
Hopefully that didn't scare any potential audience away - the film is also shot beautifully with a great cast. Definitely worth a look.
