Review of Cube 2: Hypercube (2002) by Matthew D — 16 Aug 2008
I think this movie deserves more credit than it gets: in some ways it's a more intelligent movie than the first, and visually it's more stunning, it just falls short in terms of characterization and lacks the first's grounded sense of reality and betrayal.
The winning idea is to remove the traps and augment the sense of unreality, but in the process they neglect the human side of the storyline. Don't expect The Cube, but give the writers credit for at least trying to develop the original idea.
