Review of Crazy Eights (2006) by Jacob G — 20 Jun 2008
Crazy Eights suffers from a lot of things: lameo title, vague and obscure plot that only barely gives context for everything (but without actually succeeding to explain anything). It looks like most of the effort in this movie was in the visual aspects and not the plot.
Because everything is shot beautifully. Even the subtle points like frame composition are top-notch. Still, much more explanation was needed, or much less. They could have possibly gotten away with completely discarding the 20-year subtext and just thrown them into the lab, Saw-style.
That could have worked, too.
