Review of Contagion (2011) by Matthew M — 05 Aug 2012
I thought that this was an amazingly intelligent movie. I loved the insight that it gives viewers into the response by healthcare officials to the advent of new pathogens and how mass panic spreads and affects society at large.
It also succeeds in making its characters relatable, showing that drama and accuracy are not mutually exclusive. I do not want to spoil anything, but I will say that I did not like that one plot thread was left hanging.
However, one unsatisfying ending will not keep me from giving this movie five stars or from calling it one of the best American movies that 2011 gave us.
