There are plenty of movies that I have loved to hate. Rare are those that I hate to say I love. "Compliance" is one of the latter. You are told at the very beginning that the film is based on true events.

As the story unfolds, you want to believe that it is a very loose interpretation of the facts. . You want to write the picture off as an outlandish tale with a very bad screenplay. No such luck. After you watch you will google the events and find that step by step Director Craig Zobel told it like it was.

.as hard it might be to understand. Produced on a shoe string budget, "Compliance" is a brilliant movie with outstanding direction and performances (especially Ann Dowd). It will make you think, though you may not like what you think.

One of the 10 best of the year and will certainly not win a single award.
