Review of Coffin Rock (2009) by John H — 18 Nov 2009
Can I just say that, in amongst what has been an outstanding Leeds Film festival this year, I expect 'Coffin Rock' to be the worst film I shall see in 2009. I am intending to see Nic Cage in 'Bad Lieutenant - Port of Call New Orleans' so obviously the jury is very much still out on this one.
The bunny-boiling cod-Irish emo boy talking to his dead dad on disconnected phones didn't come across as scary, just as someone you'd dearly like to slap. The scene where he took out his rejection frustrations on his pet kangaroo was unintentionally hilarious and provided the statutory pet animal massacre shockarama this kind of nonsense demands.
Like a bad tv movie with added violence.
