Review of Cocoon (1995) by Lee G — 24 Nov 2007
Of all the "friendly alien" films of the 1980s, this is my favorite: A magical and heart-touching sci-fi fantasy about a group of elderly friends given the gift of youthful virility through the presence of aliens.
Wonderful performances from both young and old. It's especially effective to see Dennehy (a character actor who usually plays gruff detective types) take a turn at tenderness. John Horner provides a great score as usual, but it sounds a little too much like his work on the Star Trek films.
