Review of Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky (2009) by Louise C — 24 Jul 2010
Opulent scenery, well acted. Nice use of silences. I enjoyed it. HOWEVER, it is based on a novel that supposes "what if" Stravinsky and Chanel had an affair and uses this to take liberties with time and connections.
Why is that important to note? Because it ends abruptly with them both alone as elderly people, suggesting that they died alone in mourning of one another, when Stravinsky married his childhood sweetheart and Chanel is said to not have wanted to marry.
These characters deserved a smoother transition to old age rather than an abrupt, "We're at the two hour mark, wrap it up!".
