Review of City of Gold (2016) by Stephen-Joel K — 11 Jan 2016
You, like many of us, may think that to critique food is to simply say, 'I like that', or the reverse, 'I don't'. Well, 'City of Gold' may convince you to believe otherwise.
Jonathan Gold, at first glance, may seem to be a grotesque; just egotistically flaunting his gluttony to his audience, but as you look closer at the man whilst tracing his footsteps from one restaurant to the next, you realise what it is to live your life on the streets of Los Angeles.
The subject of this film may be a food critic, but through his vocation we learn about the subject of strength in diversity and how it impacts upon our daily lives, be it in our social engagements or our location of employment.
