4/4.
Polanski's highly stylized neo-noir of Robert Towne's Oscar Winning screenplay is a spellbinding detective story. Nicholson attempts to solve a complex mystery involving an adultery case, murder, and a powerful businessman. Unlike any other neo-noir ever made, with a unique visual style, and hypnotic haunting musical score by Jerry Goldsmith that keeps film especially fascinating. This stands out from even the best of the 1970's; one of the all-time greats. Polanski's best film.
