Review of Chain of Fools (2001) by Private U — 27 Apr 2008
Big shots like Salma Hayek, Jeff Goldblum and Elijah Wood star in this virtually-unknown dark comedy with plenty of twists and turns. Being in the "art house" genre may explain why it wasn't posted across block-buster billboards.
The movie is chock-a-block full of colourful characters who are trying to outwit each other while getting their paws on ancient Chinese coins worth couple of millions. Steve Zahn as honest-to-goodness, small-time barber is awesome and so is Elijah Wood as depressed 17-year-old hit man.
Sometimes you'll want to pull your hair out from the sheer frustration at their incompetence, but mostly you'll just laugh as you were meant to.
