Review of Cartel Land (2015) by Reini U — 07 Nov 2015
This is a corresponding documentary to "El Alcalde", about the group of Autodefensas in the state of Michoacán, with it's background initial success in the fight against the cartels, criminals and the government forces, and the splitup into the "legal" Rural Forces, and its decline into corruption and new cartels. The parallel story of a small US civil autodefense group at the border in Arizona which admirers the Mexican Autodefensas is not so strong and could have been left out.
You don't need to watch "Sicario", rather watch this and El Alcalde instead to get some background information.
