Review of Car Wash (1976) by Paul C — 15 Jan 2008
Possibly the funkiest film ever made. I adore it in every way. Every character is perfectly moulded, the script is excellent and the actors are perfect for the roles. It's witty yet it doesn't lack emotion.
This is a masterclass in low budget movie making and a snapshot in time that could never be repeated. The soundtrack is constant and penned by the funk genius Norman Whitfield - it's so effective that you really notice it for the few seconds that it occasionally fades down.
Brilliant stuff...and I always feel great after watching it.
