Review of Capone (1975) by Ashley H — 10 Mar 2017
Playing like a cartoon version of The Godfather, this purported biopic of Al Capone features a puffy smirking Ben Gazzara (was he borrowing Brando's cotton wool?) and several litres of red paint masquerading as blood.
The whole ninety minutes seems to have been shot on the Fox backlot. Good actors like Harry Guardino and John Cassavetes lend some necessary weight, and a young Sylvester Stallone proves he can more than hold his own.
But it's disposable stuff.
