Review of Camille Claudel (1988) by Joseph T — 08 Mar 2008
In this awe-inspiring, yet unfortunate detail of one French sculptor Camille Claudel (Isabelle Adjani) explains her inevitable insanity through her involvement with famous sculptor himself Auguste Rodin (Gérard Depardieu).
All in all, I was immensely impressed by Isabelle's wondrous performance, very deserving of an Oscar or any sort of award. I think it was seemingly in a perfect tone of pace, whereas the film itself doesn't feel like it's â??rushing itselfâ?? into delivering a full account of real life, dead sculptor Claudel.
It's definitely a worthy check-out. With a bout of strong performances all around (including most of the supporting cast as well), Camille Claudel depicts a surreal and natural tone of what the sculptor probably have felt at the time of her mental incapacitation.
