Review of Bus 174 (2002) by Ashley S — 14 Aug 2007
"Ditching the kinetic thrills and cinematic bravura of City of God, Bus 174 delves deeper into the wounded soul of modern Brasil" tony r.
I chose this film after a recommendation from a friend. I EXPECTED a DRAMA - what I GOT was a 'theoretical documentary'. A deep, true, and encouraging look INTO the CAUSES of the real life hijacking of Bus 174 in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, 2000. Unique in that NO OTHER hostage situation had EVER been soo well documented - as the bus did not allow for much privacy. some of the extra interviews included on the DVD may have resounded better than some of those chose for the actual piece. An INTERSTING.. and EYE OPENING look into street life.
