Review of Burying the Ex (2014) by Selena N — 30 Nov 2015
Is it your dream to own a little Halloween shop? Does your inner monster child squeal with glee when you see vintage posters and collectables? How about a solid helping of horror movie cheese? If so, this surprisingly fun little movie may be for you! Horror nerds will enjoy the references and appreciate the love of the horror throughout it, something missing in far too many horror comedies.
This is what makes the movie enjoyable, but sadly niche as the typical movie viewer won't be able to relate to the character or get some of the jokes. The humor isn't groundbreaking, but its decent.
It is sometimes gross, sometimes cheesy, often tongue in cheek, and is fully realized if the horror fan watching has a knowledge and appreciation of the genre's wide spectrum. If you are a horror nerd and are far from being a horror snob, I recommend grabbing a bowl of frute brute and giving Burying the Ex a chance.
