Another Oscar nominate movie and this was incredibly well done. A young Irish girl moves to Brooklyn in the 1950's to start a better life. This is the best romantic movie of the year, possibly the best movie of the year, with really strong performances by the cast but particularly the lead actress, Saoirse Ronan. So strong, that at this moment she is my selection for best actress. The transformation from a shy, almost timid immigrant to a confident, resolved woman is perfect. The characterization of homesickness rings particularly true.

I loved this movie and if romantic but not sappy movies are your flavor, you won't find a better one. A definite see movie.
