Review of Brick (2006) by Millo T — 02 Sep 2013
Make no mistake about it, this is as much a Noir film as anything you have seen before. The twist, it is set in the world of a California high school. Everything else is present, the mystery, the murder, the drugs, the sexual motivation but it has never felt so fresh.
Joseph Gordon-Leviitt steals the show here as Brendan, the lead character we follow as he tries to piece together what has happened to his scared, frantic ex girlfriend. I really enjoyed the way the characters all spoke and acted, taking themselves seriously with the dialogue but still having fun with it.
The films 2 hr run time flies by and the plot keeps you hooked until the end.
